Kos 9
The Folded Plate: Balance Through Completion
This Shabbat Kos explores the idea of shared stability. On its own, the tube cannot achieve its full equilibrium; it requires the intervention of an external structure to perfect its inclination.
The object rests on a folded nickel silver plate that embraces and completes the 135-degree angle of the glass. In this version, the two elements respond to one another: the rigor of the folded plate finishes the graphic composition initiated by the rounded lines of the tube.
Invisible Connection: A discreet yet vital internal structure ensures the link between the glass and its base to guarantee total stability.
Removable Duality: Although the two elements are inseparable for balance, the Kiddush cup remains entirely removable from its base, preserving the fluidity of the ritual.
Aesthetics
A radical and graphic vision. The contrast between the solid volume of the tube and the surgical folding of the plate offers a monumental sculptural presence, while maintaining the visual lightness characteristic of the "Balance" series.
