The Oblong + Spheres
Equilibrium Through 3 Spheres
Inspired by a streamlined shape, this 925 silver cup is heavy and unstable by nature. To allow it to stand on the Shabbat table, I soldered three spheres of different sizes to its base. Slightly off-centered, these spheres manage to keep the Kos perfectly stable, even when filled.
The Concept
There is a slight visual challenge in finding its point of balance, a playful interaction that dialogues with a resolutely minimalist and asymmetrical aesthetic. But beyond the form, it is above all the pursuit of stability through the encounter of an unstable base and spheres, themselves inherently unstable, that I found interesting to explore.
Entirely handcrafted in 925 silver in Israel, these cups are plated with 24K gold on the inside. Each Kiddush cup is welded and shaped in my workshop in Jerusalem, making every piece unique.
This is a limited series of 9 Kiddush cups.
