Mini + Reflection: Equilibrium through Duality

This model is the ultimate expression of my research into stability. Here, the stability of the Shabbat glass does not rely on an external support, but on the multiplication of an unstable element. It is the idea that two Kos, unable to stand alone, find their balance point only when united.

A silver bead, intentionally off-center, acts as a pivot and spacer between the two glasses. It creates a visual and structural interplay that allows the upper Kos to remain suspended. I appreciate the idea of these two identical glasses, designed never to be used simultaneously, finding their decorative purpose and rest only through this union.

Concept & Technicality

The challenge of this piece lay in the precise placement of the bead so that the center of gravity of both parts merges perfectly.

  • Off-Center Pivot: The bead is not centered, creating a dynamic tension where space and play become structural components.

  • Stability through Union: The object becomes a metaphor for mutual balance, where each glass is indispensable to the other.

Aesthetics

"Mini + Reflection" challenges our perception of balance: the object appears ready to tilt, yet remains perfectly still. It is a dialogue between two identical forms providing mutual support to create a unique vertical sculpture.
